University of Florida Conference on Religion and Nature

The Inaugural Conference University of Florida on April 6-9, 2006, was remarkable, about 145 scholars from all over the world attend the meeting, included some keys respected advocates of nature and spirituality attend as key note speakers in religion, nature and cultural science: Prof. Mary Evelyn Tucker of Harvard, Prof. Stephen Kellert of Yale and Caroline Merchant of UC Davis. Most of them are academia from recognize universities. I was quite astonish, that I am the only Indonesian attend the conference actually with specific presentation about Indonesia Moslem and Environmental Movement in Indonesia. My impression that every academic conference not likely only a field of intellectual and sharing experience and thinking but also a networking movement to further steps in the future. This was the second time for me to attend international meeting after the Research Seminar on Religion and Ecology at the Graduate, Centre for Religious & Cross-curtural Studies, Gajah Mada University, Yogyakarta, last August 2005.
